Six pathways to Hong Kong residence

Hong Kong QMAS

Suitable for people with strong qualifications, professional experience, international backgrounds, high income, or business experience. The current General Points Test contains 12 criteria covering age, qualifications, language, work experience, income, and business ownership. Applicants currently need to meet six criteria.

TTPS Category A

Annual income in the year preceding the application must reach HKD 2.5 million or above. A Hong Kong job offer is not required at the time of application. Successful first-time applicants are generally granted 36 months of stay.

TTPS Category B

People holding a bachelor’s degree from an eligible university and having at least three years of cumulative work experience during the five years preceding the application may assess their eligibility for Category B.

TTPS Category C

People who obtained a bachelor’s degree from an eligible university within the five years preceding the application and have less than three years of work experience may assess their eligibility for Category C. Category C has an annual quota and operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

Professional employment in Hong Kong

For mainland Chinese residents, applications are usually made under the Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP); professionals from overseas, Macao, and Taiwan are generally assessed under the General Employment Policy (GEP).

A genuine job in Hong Kong is usually required. The position should relate to the applicant’s qualifications or work experience, and remuneration and benefits should broadly match Hong Kong market levels.

Study in Hong Kong + IANG

After completing a qualifying full-time, locally accredited undergraduate or higher qualification in Hong Kong, eligible non-local graduates may apply under IANG to stay in or return to Hong Kong for work.

Recent graduates applying within six months of graduation generally do not need a job offer at the time of application and may be granted 24 months of stay. However, not every study program qualifies for IANG, so eligibility must be checked before choosing a school and program.
